Queen’s Tennis 2019: Andy Murray given tough first round

Andy Murray returns from surgery and enters doubles with Feliciano Lopez at the Queen’s Club Championships. Unfortunately, Murray has not been welcomed back with an easy first round, as Murray/Lopez are due to take on number 1 seeds Robert Farah/Juan Cabal, on Tuesday 18th June.

After 4 months away from the game, Murray is looking forward to getting back on the court. In a recent interview with ‘Guardian Sport’ Murray says that he is ‘pain-free’ heading into Queen’s. “It’s nice that I can go out and do things, you know, off the tennis court, which I wasn’t doing for a while”. Although Murray is back playing doubles he says his return to singles is still a while down the track. “I still need time to build up again, and do another kind of block of rehab and training, to try and get myself in that position”.

Some other big names in the doubles draw include; J. del Potro, S. Wawrinka, the Bryan brothers (Mike & Bob), A. de Minaur and D. Schwartzman. The singles draw is also strong with the first round beginning today the 17th June. Fernando Verdasco has already been knocked out by Daniil Medvedev. While M. Cilic and D. Schwartzman are currently playing their first-round matches.
