In the lead-up to Wimbledon, tennis star Emma Raducanu has ended her relationship with Carlo Agostinelli, concluding their year-long romance. The couple, once seen enjoying holidays together, has decided to go their separate ways.
Raducanu and Agostinelli, who both recently unfollowed each other on Instagram, had a relationship that, according to sources, “ran its course.” Speaking to The Sun, an insider confirmed the breakup, noting, “Emma has 2.4 million followers on Instagram but Carlo is no longer one of them.”
Carlo Agostinelli, 23, is the son of financier Robert Agostinelli, the founder of the private equity firm Rhine Group. Carlo spent his formative years in the UK, attending Harrow School where he was head boy. He was also involved in Tottenham Hotspur’s academy but never made it to the first team. Agostinelli has since relocated to the United States to pursue studies at Stanford University, where he played football before recently deciding to retire from the sport, as he announced on Instagram.
With Wimbledon on the horizon, Raducanu seems to be focusing her energies on her tennis career. Her recent social media posts highlight her training sessions and travels, without any reference to the split. The 21-year-old, originally from Bromley, who adhered to strict rules about dating while at school, is now channeling her efforts into regaining her form.
Raducanu’s career has seen its share of highs and lows since her historic victory at the 2021 US Open at just 18 years old. Currently ranked 205th in the world, she has faced numerous challenges, including injuries that kept her out of much of last season. Despite these setbacks, she remains optimistic about her future in tennis. In a recent interview with Grazia magazine, she expressed confidence in her progress, saying, “I feel good. I’m playing well and I’m training really hard. I’m doing a lot of good things and I know it’s going to happen. If not this Wimbledon, next Wimbledon.”
As she prepares for Wimbledon, Raducanu appears determined to leave personal matters behind and focus on the game that brought her international acclaim.
